The Accessibility Coordinator is a fairly new position
What does it even mean?! The spirit of the position is to better include all campers in how they would like to be included.
Your AC will not magically make everything accessible and easy at camp. They will help build the capacity of the camp community as a whole, to take care of each other proactively.
Use them as a thought partner either before an event or a debriefing partner after. Come have a sit on a porch and ask tender questions about accessibility here or in your life. Your AC is not an expert, but they know some things, and have a creative, compassionate ear. Contact your July Accessibility Coordinator - Lisa Lake (435)531-1928 ladylake711@gmail.com

Lanyards and Language
Over decades of July Eliot, we’ve done a craft of weaving plastic cords together. We’ve called it “gimp,” a word used since the 17th century to describe woven or twisted textiles used as a decorative trim. Since the 1920s, “gimp” has also been used as an insult for a person with a mobility disability. People with disabilities have told us that hearing this term for a camp activity feels unwelcoming.
Honoring our covenant, we are changing the name of this craft to lanyard, a common term at other camps. When we know better, we can do better. It is a meaningful and honorable thing when traditions evolve in response to love, care, and a deeper understanding of one another.

Tie Dye!
Calling all aspiring color-borists! Your Color Chemists are here to assist with all your colorful concoctions. Join us in the afternoon Monday for bottle dyeing (multiple colors) or Tuesday for beginner bucket dyeing (single color). At 3:30 each day, we welcome kiddos, families (kiddos, please supervise your adults!), and anyone who needs extra assistance for a focused dye time. Volunteers will walk away with a gorgeous thankie-hankie hand dyed by yours truly! Volunteers who come to multiple shifts will also nab a gorgeous tie dye tote bag. Sign up to volunteer on the inn porch!

Taize Worship
Our Monday night worship will be a contemplative service of chanting, beauty,
and meditation. Join us at the meeting House at 9:15.

Tabletop Graces
This year, we are experimenting with a different way of offering grace before meals. Rather than struggling to hear over the speakers, various campers have offered graces that are meaningful to them. These have been printed on cards placed on the dining tables. Please feel free to read them aloud to your table, or silently to yourself. Please leave the cards on the tables all week for everyone to share.
